The History of “You’re the Boss”

The concept of the customer being the boss has a deeply ingrained history in HUB Industrial Supply. It is the cornerstone upon which the company stands.

In earlier times, the slick newsletter that we send out every month was a far less ambitious publication. Some of the early editions typically began with a letter from president Gabriel with “Greetings Boss!” as the salutation.

Later issues of the newsletter included more in-depth essays expounding the principle that the customers who order from us are really our boss. Every catalog that we publish will invariably include a paragraph or two defining who is the boss at HUB Industrial.

President Gabriel eventually had a photo taken of him standing outside our headquarters building while he pointed at the camera in a graphic demonstration that you were the real boss at HUB Industrial Supply regardless of who wore the title of president.

Later on in June of 2010, the image was rendered as a cartoon and put in a circle to become the stamp that eventually was added to the boxes we use to send our supplies out to the HUB nation.

  1. Hi Folks. I NEED YOUR VOTE. My customers are telling me that I am not even in the top 5 on the polls!! One comment was (“You are not in the top 5…I find that hard to believe!!”) People…my customers think very highly of me, so I must climb in the polls so I don’t lose their confidence…
