Breaking Election News

LAKE CITY–Deputy Supervisor of Elections Marga A. announced today that the Board of Elections had unanimously voted to implement a series of primary segments to the popular President of You’re The Boss election.

The decision to divide up the election period into primaries will more closely mirror the national election that HUB is modeling their contest after, Marga said. She further predicted that the change will increase interest in the campaign.

“The board was concerned that voters might lose their enthusiasm for the campaign as the candidates slug it out during this grueling election,” Marga said. “We all agreed that rewarding voters with prizes at key “primary” moments in the campaign will keep the voters engaged.”

Marga laid out the primary segments as follows:

Super Thursday — from now until Thursday, March 15
Fabulous Monday — from Super Thursday until Monday, April 30
You’re the Boss Caucus — from Fabulous Monday to Thursday, May 30

These three primaries will be followed by the

General Election — from the “Bosscus Causcus” until  June 28

At the conclusion of each primary, prizes will be awarded in a random drawing to voters who voted in that primary segment. The last drawing at the conclusion of the general election will include every eligible vote through the entire election. Marga noted that the eligibility rules for contest prizes will not be changed by this announcement.

“The other great thing about the addition of primaries is that we will re-set the vote counter for each primary,” Marga said. “This will give three distinct opportunities for the candidates to enjoy front-runner status on the web page, even though the final outcome will be determined by total number of votes.”

The general election period from the last primary until June 28 will reset the vote counter again to the sum of all primary votes, so the final day of voting will determine the overall winner–the one who gets to get his or her face on the box, Marga said.

This is a developing story. More details will be reported as they become available.
